Work progress 0.9.8.1 = 0.9.9.0

19854 Do you plan on having full SLI support in 0.9.9.0? It is already implemented. 19856 I badly explained myself, what I wanted to ask was: if the emissions map affect the lighting of the ship itself... your answer makes me think that it is so. No. Not many game engines supports self-reflections ...

No, emission maps does not affect lighting of the neighbouring terrain. This requires changing the rendering pipeline to deferred rendering. Although emission maps...

Ringworlds?

Technically it is not complex - just change the equations which morphs the cube (basic geometry of the terrain engine) into inverse sphere, or into a ring (throw out north and south faces of the cube, and "circularize" the rest). There are two problems though. First, we have to add a secon...

Gameplay concept

If I will ever introduce alien civilization, they will not resemble that you expect to see from popular shows or games. This might be an intelligent community of bacteria, or quantum supercomputer distributed inside the icy crust of a cold planetoid, or mushroom forests with self-organizing patterns...

OVERVIEW

I hope soon. Oculus review team is really scrupulous. They want OV to be like a multi-million AAA title: perfect, polished and run at 90 FPS at any time. This is really annoying: too much effort for not clear perspectives... Steam already selling OV during more than a month, they don't have so sever...

There are many competitors of SE made by professional teams, but they all are used in digital planetariums, and are not available for free. They must fear SE, then it will come on this market :)

OVERVIEW

Overview is focused on science and explanation, not on a visual realism. Also auto-exposure is not very well implemented, it not always behave as intended, especially in VR.

I've got CV1 few weeks ago, so next SE release will support it. The first Overview update will also support CV1, and soon we are planning to release Overview in Oculus store.
