Qr Bbpost I remember a time when the planet Bloop orbited Rigil Kentaurus (Alpha Centauri) B, before being replaced with a planet candidate that, to my knowledge, was never confirmed. I miss Bloop.

lol yes, I must restore it, maybe in the Avatar addon :)

GAIA to SpaceEngine catalogs

You shouldn't randomize radius if data is missing. Just leave the field blank, SE will calculate radius itself.

Work progress 0.990

Release build is ready, we waiting approval from Steam. They usually sending emails after several working days, with a text like "Error. You must do that and that". This has happen several times already. So even the "release build" may be changed in upcoming weeks (if I have to c...

I'm curious, how much time it took to render that video, and on what kind of hardware. And, maybe more interesting, what software was used, and how long it took to create it and setup the scene.

New Solar System HD addon

So I am preparing updated Solar system HD addon. In was need an update because terrain texture format was changed, tiles are at fxied resolution of 256*256 pixles now. This also mean what single cylindrical textures cannot be used for planet mods now, you have to run them through the Cubemap utility...

Installer is not needed, SE will be installed by Steam.
And yes, there is a paaemeter in the config which limits RAM usage.

General 0.990 Discussion

28467 Thats excellent!  We'll be able to use different combos to change what color the sky is and what the terrain of the planet looks like, land vs sea ratio, etc.! Atmosphere composition and color are not dependent directly, you have to define both in the catalog file. If color is not defined, SE...

Work progress 0.990

28584 Can we have a status for the progress of 0.990 ? Working on Solar system textures. Cubemap tool was updated to support SE 0.990 texture format (256x256, with 2 pixel-wide border inside the tile). It also was made 64-bit and multithreaded, to speedup conversion process. Some textures, for whic...

28524 I wonder. With stellar remnants now available within some these new fandangled nebulae, would they have planets, too? Yes. First discovered planets was discovered near a neutron star! This was surprising. They hypothesized to be a second-generation planets, formed from debris disk around the ...

Work progress 0.990

28466 I think you may have answered this before but will it ever become possible to show real time weather conditions on Earth using satellite images and real time landscapes on earth akin to what Google Earth shows?  I think the answer would be no because you would need to have SE connected to the...

3 facts maybe you don't know about antimatter

Pure antimatter is bad fuel for starship. You want to have 1 petawatt of thrust power on engine with 75% efficiency? Say hello to 500 gigawatts of deadly gamma-ray radiation, which will be emitted from the reaction zone. Annihilation produces 2/3 of charged pions, which can be used to produce thrust...
