You can stitch tiles together into a single equirectangular RAW image using the CubeMap tool, then use it again to convert in into cubemap.

I already integrated this texture in SE. Also next Overview update will use it. its resolution is much greater, in Overview it has per-pixel quality in Vive and Rift.

Raytracing 25 years ago was not real time. Even now real raytracing (not a "cheat" one) is not real time on most PC hardware. Many modern game engines introduces screen space reflections - a cheap and cheat way to imitate raytracing of the reflected rays. But this have obvious limitations ...
