I didn't said that INFO TEXT will be invisible until you hover mouse over it. I said this about the WINDOW BORDERS and BUTTONS on it.

New planet classification

10730 In Russian, is it possible to use the same noun for "a person from Jupiter" to mean "a planet like Jupiter"? They would both be "jovian" in English and the Romance languages. It is possible, but not used in literature. We using either terms "gas giant" ...

Idea about new info table (photoshop mokeup): new into mokeup.png Info table becomes a window, which is fully transparent (invisible) in normal mode, showing only text, but appears when user hover mouse cursor over it. It could have an expand/collapse buttons, to show more/less detailed description ...

First exomoon candidate!

Exoplanet Kepler-1625 b is a gas giant orbiting a G-type star in a relatively wide 287.38 days-long orbit. It was confirmed in 2016. Recently the HEK project ( H unt for E xomoons with K epler) reported a new discovery - first significant exomoon candidate, orbiting this planet. Despite on only 3 tr...

New planet classification

10592 I personally prefer shorter categorizations, but that's kinda besides the point. I do have issues of a more technical nature, though. We are decided to limit the classification to a 3 words: [temperature] [surface] [size-][class]. Sometimes it could be appended with additional info: volcanic,...

10570 I have question addon with new solar system browser binary. what about 2 moons with barycenter around parent barycenter binary planets will show 2 moons in the same cell? No, "binary" is a pair, by definition. Barycenter is generated for that pair only, possible outer moons revolved...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

10532 Hi everyone. I'm returning to Space Engine and the forum after a long time away. Have to say that I'm excited about where things are going. Not sure if this is the right thread, but I had a random thought... Would it be possible to adapt whatever method is used for comet tails or evaporating ...

New planet classification

10556 Well yeah, I know that, but I wasn't considering ices as minerals there. Then in oxygen-dominated star systems the most abundant minerals are olivine Mg 2 SiO 4  and pyroxene MgSiO 3 , and in the carbon-dominated systems they are olivine, pyroxene, silicon and titanium carbids SiC and TiC, an...

All ice worlds (except very tiny ones) have subglacial seas, even Pluto. It could be considered as a molten mantle - H2O is the most abundant substance in these worlds.

New planet classification

10538 Earth: T1sm Mars: T0s Jupiter: G3h This is interesting idea. But users must be familiar with this system somehow, they will go to Wikipedia and be surprised by not finding anything. About separating to rocky and carbon planets: recent studies says that if a parent star have C to O ratio large...
