In Photo mode: Auto (https://ibb.co/58zRVS7) the sun is visible below the horizon when you look down and there are artifacts (parallel lines) that move (planet HIP 30213 4 orbiting a star HIP 30213). The second image shows the terrain lit before sunrise (https://ibb.co/tMyqMbz).
Not sure if this is by design or a bug, but the terrain is lit when the sun is below horizon and there is some weird red artifact near the horizon (https://ibb.co/Ltf872f).
Blue giants are black and red for me (https://ibb.co/jytvzvD). Has anyone encountered this issue? My GPU is below minimum requirements, but other stars and planets look normal.
Today, after starting Space Engine again the blue giants look normal.

Thanks for the info. I thought internet connection was necessary to install Steam.
Then I apologize for the noise. If it's paid then that's a different story. I was against Steam under the assumption that SE is still free. Since it's not it makes sense to use Steam or any other platform of your choice whatever the downsides, though there are benefits as well. Since you want DRM prot...
I'm not against Steam per se. I'm against being forced to install anything and depending on it when previous solution worked fine. Admittedly one of the reasons is more personal. I have a 70 year old uncle who likes SE very much because he loves space, but doesn't have an internet connection. I know...
I don't think anyone should be forced to install Steam just to have SE 0.9.9.0. It makes sense to me to do this if it's not going to be free. It might be more convenient for those who already have Steam to update this way, but for who don't have it and don't want it it's [fo...
Will the new version be Steam exclusive or is it going to be available on the website as well like earlier versions? You mentioned that Solar System HD and Ultra addons will be free, but what about the SE itself?[/...
HarbingerDawn: Here are the links to the open source Flightgear flight simulator, which has an excellent atmospheric scattering model (it was coded by a physicist) that can possibly give you some ideas on how to further improve atmosphere model in SE. http://www.flightgear.org/tours/the-magic-of-lig...
