Work progress 0.9.8.1 = 0.9.9.0

Will 0.9.9.0 still be free? Somebody told me that we have to buy it................

The planetarium would always be free, but extra features like spacecrafts would have to be bought in the Steam version I'm assuming.

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

Perhaps these are already implemented and done so well that I don't even notice but it would be nice to see more rainbows, solar halos, solar glories, mirages, afterglows, coronas, sun dogs, and the use of crepuscular rays, all based on atmospheric molecular content. Space Engine does not have adva...

Work progress 0.9.8.1 = 0.9.9.0

Being NASA/ESA, I really hope they make at least large use of educated guesses (and observational data) :P Eh, I'm more inclined to believe that this was the best they could achieve with current technology. The best sims I've seen of turbulent star formation are not even close to 2D what NASA/ESA d...

Qr Bbpost For example, the Orion nebula has been made into a 3D model for visualization.

Isn't this model kinda trash since the nebula certainly isn't as flat as depicted?

[0.9.8.0] Elliptical galaxy appearance

I've noticed that really dense atmospheres, particularly of massive stars, are way too sharply defined and appear graphically glitched out as I move out and into it, especially when viewing the horizon near the surface. Same phenomena at work I guess?

General 0.9.9.0 Discussion

My main question was what else he still wants to get done. Are there any more big things to get done, or is it mostly optimizing and bug fixes at this point? Or is there not a specific road map, and kind of just getting done what he thinks he can for now? There's a lot of things to get done. The vo...

I'm just curious for what impact this is going to have on finding earth-like planets, as that's what I do myself on space engine

Earth-like planets will be exceedingly rare due to this new algorithm.

13682 Does anyone know any accurate 2d simulations of convective cloud systems that can be run on the average PC? Something like this that doesn't use 100 million particles.  I don't think it is possible to get accurate simulations of convective systems, especially tropical cyclones, in 2D.  These ...

Unrealistic stars.

13945 Actually, now that I compare it to the Milky Way, it seems that I can't spot any stars at that distance. They don't even show up. Seems like that was just a galaxy of incredibly massive stars. Is that scientifically accurate? Age could explain size but not mass. I don't think so. Massive star...

12707 What's the type of fluid flow in Jupiter's atmosphere that creates these clouds formations? I think it's just called turbulent flow, which is what leads to the vortices and mixing.  The other type of flow is "laminar" , where the fluid flows in smooth sheets without breaking up into...

What's the type of fluid flow in Jupiter's atmosphere that creates these clouds formations? The same process looks similar to Earth as well.
