11868 1. Knowing the Moon gradually recedes from Earth as the planet's rotation slows down thanks to the mutual tidal interactions; does the rate the moon recedes get slower as Earth's rotation get slower? You are totally right. 4.5 billion years ago the Moon was born at just 3.8 earth-radii of dis...

11812 Pulsar jets aren't even visible from any other angles besides head-on. ;p First: They are still really beautiful and cool looking ;p https://i.redd.it/bqdf8907f8ux.gif Second: really? I didn't know that .-. why is that so? is it because of exposure levels? It's because the jets are high-energ...

11720 Not even comparable to the scientific realism of Space Engine in fact. I can't agree with you. Have you found a Herbig Ae/Be star in SE? I never did.  But there are lots of them in Elite Dangerous.  Yes, ED is a game, but it's done well as a video game. Yet SE is a space sim game engine, so i...

Music Suggestions

I am in the process of making an album (maybe 10 songs in total) based around this game. So far I have 3 songs.  https://soundcloud.com/octavermusic The soundtrack of the game is great and I am having a fun time making tracks to capture the feeling of wonder and awe of the game.  Also if the sample...

My pos t from "Advertising SE?" slighty modified.   About realism, planets should be the main priority after nebulas. Right now, people get screwed up by the scale, everything feels "to big", from far away it looks...

Dreams you've had

Had a dream about zombified Disney characters trying to kill me and my family while we hid in the bathroom when I was 10. Must've been pretty immortalizing on me seeing how I still remember it 7 years later. ;p

11103 What are those whitish 'cracks' you see around the surface of the sun, notably around sunspots? They're visible optically but only near the solar limb. Spicules perhaps? Those are called  'plages' , which are bright features in the Sun's chromosphere, and most apparent with an H-alpha filter....

11134 But I still believe that lighting should be drastically improved as it sets the immersion of realism and could help with the perception of scales. Agree, but the new camera effects and auto-exposure are enough for now. 11134 Honestly I always found gas giant clouds majorly disappointing, Well...

11133 About realism, planets should be the main priority after nebulas. Right now, people get screwed by the scale, everything feels "to big", from far away it looks nice, with excellent dunes and mountain ranges, but up close it is hard to tell if "it is bigger than a human" th...
