Science and Astronomy Questions

I think I found an exoplanet! I need some help with calculating the orbital radius and mass of the planet. Here's the data: Size: 2.6 Earth Radii Orbital Period: 71.22 days Star: KIC 7801296 I realize it might not be possible to calculate the mass, but atleast a range of values for the orbital radi...

Why not use something like Universe Sandbox or something to simulate these kinds of things? It's not perfect but it would give an idea as to what would happen.

Yes, Humans or earth life as a whole are fairly adaptable when we need to be. Humans can adapt and live in pretty extreme environments, Only problem is you would need to acclimatise yourself first.  This  is a post by Watsisname talking about breathable atmosphere and the like, Should find your answ...

All I have done here is altered the colours somewhat and so they are more vibrant. Also included the original (Top) incase you don't want to use that.

Tsar Bomba was only 25 Megatons. So scaling that up..  200 Gigatons would be catastrophic for our planet, The blast alone would topple buildings in New York, The seismic effects could possibly cause techtonic activity as Everest is on a faul(It would make it's own anyway). The thermals of the explos...

Well if we assume relative distances for thier respective gravities.  Mars and The Moon would be more of a binary system then a typical parent/moon system. Think of pluto/charon for an analogy.  Venus I am not entirely sure about, I think the systems barycenter would be off center causing a slight w...

Havn't read it yet, Been rather busy atm :D Any as I said before, Thanks.  One more quick question. Going into the field (Still maybe a year or 2 off uni) Should I retain what I have learned so far or clear it from my mind? I am afraid of my brain trying to fit what I learn into my already drawn co...

Totally off-topic thread

There is only so far you can push with letters and statements. They can be and often are ignored by the type of people who you are directing them too, With a few exceptions the only people who would have listened are those who would have listened either way.  I support the peaceful march, It conveys...

No edit button?  That means one unit of "M" is 4.9 microseconds per solar mass in the black holes.  So t=934M is about 92 milliseconds if these were 10 solar mass black holes, or 2.5 hours if these were million solar mass black holes One question about this, Why would it take longer for la...

-snip- Wow, Alot more than I was expecting, Thats awesome. It'll take me a while to ingest that, I am only an aspiring astrophysicist and on top of that I had to drop out of school becuase of a medical issue, So I am behind the curve somewhat. Alot of what I know is self taught/logic. But anyway, I...

Science and Astronomy Questions

Quick question,  What would happen if a binary black hole with distance between them (AU type distance) had an accretion disk? As far as I know, It wouldn't or it would be more of a glowing debris cloud instead of a disk. If not either of them, Why?  Just wanted to see if I was right or not, And if ...
