Astrophotography

So, I figured since it would be a while since I post another image (winter = snow = sadness), I'm making the ngc 7000 mosaic data (stacked) public for anyone to try their hands on processing monochrome narrowband data. Unfortunately it's not the full SHO, but just HOO as I ran out of time this year ...

Some more progress on the mosaic. Still 20 or so frames missing on the right panels, but hydrogen is almost done!

GAIA to SpaceEngine catalogs

First post, scroll down to normal versions section and it's the last one in the list. Alternatively you can click the steam workshop link (also in the first post) and it'll link to a collection with a list of all of the options.

GAIA to SpaceEngine catalogs

I have managed to load 70M stars on a 960m 4GB VRAM 16GB RAM laptop before, so it's definitely doable... It only took like 8 tries and a few hours lol

GAIA to SpaceEngine catalogs

Updated to V3.
-Removed HIP duplicates
-Changed the available versions
-Increased range, now up to 30M stars
-Added new "future" versions where the position of stars are calculated with today's measured proper motion and radial velocity.

So yeah...
Here's a gif of 1 million years of stellar motion on a 700k stars pak. Each frame is a 100k years step.

Also, to add, I'm planning on adding a few versions of "simulated" futures and stellar motion using proper motion of stars. Basically, just catalogs of where stars would be x number of years into the future. Of course, the farther into the future it is, the less accurate it becomes, as cal...

So it's been a while since any work has been done on this, but I would like to announce that duplicate stars are no more! Before: The duped stars are clearly visible where it looks like there are rays of stars pointing at earth https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/148934978095415296/73483056579398...

No I do not, and I've never had issues on the secondary. Only the primary dewed so far, so I've put a heater band around that one (though tbh, I don't know how effective that is.)
