General 0.9.9.0 Discussion

Occasionally Space Engineer puts out a thread asking for more beta testers, but I think the roster is pretty full now.

SpaceEngine TODO

That's definitely not what he's asking. He's being quite clear. You even quoted him.

Ringworlds?

Amazing analogy. Absolutely nailed it.

Unusual weather

midtskogen, you are the coolest non-fictional person I know of. Your whole setup, your command of the sciences of weather and astrometry, and your approach to gathering and interpreting data... it's just hugely impressive, dude, all of it.

Hats off to you, sir.

Then try a driver roll-back - there's an option somewhere to return to the previous version of the drivers. 99% of the time, a featureless planet is a driver issue - maybe the new drivers broke some compatibility or something.

You may need to update your graphics card drivers if 0980 has featureless planets.

Rodrigos Terrain & Clouds Mod

Wow, that's a great start. Definitely has that "noisy" quality of Earth's cloud patterns, and isn't overly sharp or cartoonish, as SE's stock clouds can often look. It does seem to lack vortices, though. I tend to think the vortices in SE at present are over-simplified. I hope you keep wor...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

Oh, I just thought of another docking/module feature: the ability to spawn a ship onto a docking port, already docked.

n0b0dy, we should add transparent textures to that list! I want reflective glass in my window frames.

tRetroVisor: Bad film, excellent re-creation - I just wish it were longer! I love cinematic SE videos. I have tried my hand at it before, but SE stopped being able to access 21st century video encoders when I updated to Windows 10... :(

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

A Few Ideas Around Modular Ships And Docking These are just some thoughts that have occurred to me while playing SE docking ships and so on. Not in any sort of order: - Undocking from a rotating mother vessel imparts no angular momentum to the undocking ship. I know this might be something that has...

Ettore_BilBo's Hangar

The modular ships are great, I love docking shuttles on them and spinning them up. Something I noticed because of this is that undocking ships do not inherit the angular momentum of the mothership when they disconnect. I'll mention this in a feedback thread. Great concept and execution. I like the t...

What do you think about the super flare of the star Proxima Centauri?

Yeah, if this is a normal flare (or even a once-in-a-lifetime event), then Proxima B is toast, and the likelihood of life getting a foothold there just got way lower. I suppose abiogenesis could still take place in deep-ocean lava vents if the conditions (oceans+volcanism) exist - the ocean would sh...

Mouthwash on Science Communication and Scientific Literacy

I skipped page 2 because my eyes were developing a dangerous layer of glaze (and I'm low on time)... so delete this post if it has been said already, but the core issue of divergence here appears to be that Mouthwash, you seem to believe that the "information" "informing" an &quo...
