General 0.990 Discussion

Nice to see that the new version is going to be released soon. Any information regarding compatibility with Proton? Would like to hear more about this as a non-Windows user. Thanks!

Running SE under Linux (Wine, Mesa, etc)

Hey, I just moved to Linux (Linux Mint to be precise), and I can directly run SpaceEngine without any of the fix described here. I am simply using the latest Wine build from the new repository, so no PlayOnLinux. Unfortunately I have another problem. There seems to be a major memory leak on the prog...

that terrain definitely leaves something to be desired in SE. Yeah, the detail and the rock scatters look nice, but overall I think the terrain isn't as realistic as that in SE, at least from what I've seen in the video. I tried out the program You're lucky; I tried to run it but it said that VCOMP...

StarStuff , btw you made a mistake showing this as duplcates BrownDwarf     Like hot gas giant (gray colors) | #C18668     Like hot gas giant (gray colors) | #A77F61     Like hot gas giant (gray colors) | #95795C 2 and 3 are the same but there are TWO palettes with the mark #C18668. One of them is ...

StarStuff, why don't you just put here your version?
Unfortunately, I never made a corrected version. I was simply running a programming script on the config file to find the duplicates.

As far as I see the issues  StarStuff shown were already corrected. Nope, I'm afraid the duplicates are still there. Here I posted the name and color of the duplicates, instead of their ranges, since ranges could change with additional palettes (didn't think that through): BrownDwarf     Pink-black...

Wow! What mods/addons are you using for the buildings? I haven't seen that before.

Edit: Nevermind, I think I found it. Is it Ettore_BilBo's?

Mods and Addons - Requests, suggestions and ideas

Could someone create Apollo Lunar Module and Apollo Command/Service Module for SpaceEngine? I think it's a shame that we still don't have such historic spacecrafts available. Maybe it had been attempted in the past but there were some issues? Personally I would like to see them as separate spacecraf...

I just created a script to check for duplicates in the config file (programming script, not SE script). As it turns out, there are three cases of exact duplicates. Here they are: BrownDwarf      (0.75, 0.79)    (0.83, 0.88)    (0.92, 0.96) BrownDwarf      (0.79, 0.83)    (0.88, 0.92)    (0.96, 1.00)...

All Selenas have same golden "stains"

Then they would probably only be in large objects, or objects experiencing large tidal forces. Good point. But I still think that it's the most plausible explanation. The color scheme for the stains is just too similar with that of sulfur deposits (black, red, orange, yellow). Maybe there are other...

Exoplanets news thread

Now I am confused  :? . After so many people crated so many addons for TRAPPIS, I don't know which one to choose. This does not mean that I want to show disrespect for peoples work but since I am not an astronomer I am simply confused. Any help in choosing a scientifically accurate pak would be gre...

I'm just guessing here, but perhaps those yellow stains are meant to resemble sulfuric Io surface?

Looking for Most Beautiful Earth Like Planet for video

Hello, First of all, I'm sorry for your loss. About the planet, perhaps you could find one that you would deem fit on this thread. Personally, I would recommend those posts by superpartes . He recently posted a nice collection of Earth-looking planets, complete with pictures and coordinates: Post 1 ...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

I've been playing the game with the "Game Mode" a lot recently, and I have a suggestion. Would it be possible to make a landed spacecraft more "fixed" to the surface? Currently they keep their current orientation while the planet is rotating, as if they were still in orbit*. Also...
