Tough call... ridiculously powerful engines will get you where want to go quicker, and orbital maneuvers will likely be quicker, but I think you will lose some fine control (using the on-screen controls, or mousewheel, best you can do is 1% increments — not sure if an external throttle will give you...

I recommended editing a camera as an easy way to extract the *.sss file from a zipped archive — get SE to actually do it for you by writing a new file. :) But if you're familiar with extracting files from zipped archives, that is always best, I suppose. If you have the Merlin, by all means, give it ...

The number of camera's defined per ship has nothing at all to do with flight or other physical characteristics of the ship. Definitions are in the same *.sss file (plain text), but nothing to do with each other. "MainEngines" — maximum acceleration ship is capable of in normal space. "...

Warp 15.7 seems to be a nice balance between speed and duration.  Took me 20 minutes to go 6.7 million light years after which the autopilot brought me out of warp and I adjusted my boost exponent to 11.733 for a more leisurely tour through the galaxy. Question regarding main engines....is setting ...

Again, you are looking at the numbers and not the units.  Are you familiar with your ship thrusters? Autopilot has a number of functions. In your last screenshots, the only autopilot function I see active is "Kill rotation". Also, going back to a post I made awhile back, I think ship contr...

37849 and now it's  -0.20 m/sec You are travelling at an effective speed of 152 light-years per second, and you're worried about a small 0.2 m/sec offset? You could correct that with just the thrusters, without even leaving warp or changing heading. If the autopilot is not active, then you will fly...

37821  I tried to use it today, it's unworkable, turns out the program won't let you change the boost exponent until AFTER hyperjump is finished and by then it's too late and I'm already at the target. Yeah, thought you could do that in .9.8.0, but just as easy to turn off the hyperjump autopilot a...

37808 Thanks, Fellow Alex!  Do you think doing everything manually in the way described (1- sync velocity, 2- rotate to target, 3- set boost exponent) is the best way to go or is it better to use the Hyperjump button and try to stop the boost exponent from getting too high by clicking on a lower nu...

I set the warp for my ship to 20 that seems a tad high lol, I got to NGC 300 at 6.7 million light years away in under 30 seconds.  Is there a way to throttle the warp to a lower speed fast enough not to make the journey so quick? I dont want to go back and alter the .sss file again (by the way it's...

Qr Bbpost Also, I recall you mentioning there was a ship where 10 cameras can be used? Is that in Bilbo's collection?

I don't remember saying that. Eight.

Simple, complex — it's been a while, I thought those were the two choices.  Exotic is for places like Titan worlds.

37716 By the way, speaking of that, how many grassy planets have you found?  I'd found only one in 0.980 and one so far in 0.990.  They're very rare.  I try to keep lists of planets where I've found very obvious signs of life (like a grass covered world.) Grass? I've come across plenty of planets w...

Hey I asked this earlier......when in orbit around a ringed planet is it possible to keep one camera focused on the rings and the other one in waterskiing mode, observing the surface of the planet from up close?

You can add up to eight cameras per ship.

I picked the one-half degree out of the air, as a sample of a small angular error resulting in a large miss at the other end.  The point really being that the sooner you make course corrections, the less energy (and time) you will have to expend to make that change.
