Thanks for posting here (and not just on Discord). Looks awesome.

So, if the atmosphere code is to be rewritten to get atmospheric effects on the clouds, does that mean that surface bases (and ships in atmosphere) will finally be rendered with atmospheric effects?

Future of space engine

35768 Maybe I must restore a habit to post screenshots is the dev thread on this forum. I still do that, but in discord channel of our dev/admin team. Everyone would appreciate that. I can't think of a reason not to! ;) I would, too. The few times I've tried Discord... never could find what I wante...

Asteroids, meteors, and meteorites

I'm no expert, but I wold say that is the Great Orion Nebula. The Horsehead Nebula would be "up" to the "left" from this view, just below the leftmost star in Orion's belt, Alnitak. And I would wager that you would need better optics to make out the Horsehead Nebula. Edit: Took t...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

I had some old drivers for the longest time (if it ain't broke, etc...), but took a shot and updated them recently. Now using driver version 457.30 as above. Turns out I did not have to do anything to get S.E. 9.8.0 to work, it just rebuilt the stuff in the cache folder, and went on as before. The o...

Science and Astronomy News

Don't mean to turn it political, but the Trump administration would not spend any money on Puerto Rico disaster relief, he's not about to put funds towards any other project there, or a science project in general. A double whammy. And wasn't it originally built there because of a naturally occurring...

wow, how do you get so many stars in your image (especially the first one) do you turn up the mag limits?  Also are all of these the same planet on 0980? Well, the exposure system is not quite so robust in 980 (and yes, all of these are from 980), and you hang around a large globular cluster, you w...

Your SpaceEngine Videos

Hey everybody, first post, longtime SE fan. I've posted this music video I've made on the SE Reddit a few months ago, but got next to no attention, hopefully I'll have better luck here. Hope you dig it, and I understand this music is probably not everybody's genre, but still. Cheers! 15tn9gZ7j0o PS...

New Members Introduction Thread

Hey I'm Mark! Digital artist from Slovenia. Been using Space Engine for 5-6 years now. I absolutely adore flying around the universe looking for planets. Recently  I used SE in a music video  for my music project The Markness. Trying to make space metal a thing, hehe. I'm also an aspiring musician ...

Why do you find it so amazing? I've been here since 2017, and I've been ignored plenty of times.

General questions about SpaceEngine

Related to my query above: When in an hyperbolic orbit — a flyby — Tperi still shows time to closest approach, but Rperi is always in red and always negative. What is it actually showing me?
