General questions about SpaceEngine

Qr Bbpost Maybe it's just my keyboard, but I have found if you release the number key before the ctrl key, the view will lock to that orientation.

For me it is the other way round. I must first release the Ctrl key to lock the view.

Qr Bbpost is there a way to center on the Zenith?

You can look up with Ctrl-Numpad 8. But as soon as you release the keys, you return to the original view.

New planet classification

14056 Why we should consider a planets with non-motlten or missing core as a separate class? What is so special in their nature? I think a planet without a core has no magnetic field. A magnetic field, in turn, may be important for the development of life. A planet without a magnetic field has no p...

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

14017 apparently there's no sign of intelligent life, so humanity has no future. There is still the possibility that life is such an unlikely coincidence that it can not be repeated in the lifetime of the universe. In other words, one of the Great Filters is the improbability for the emergence of l...

General questions about SpaceEngine

13989 Hello, when I type in locations other players posted, space engine can't find the planets or just sends me to whole other planets/systems. If the location is from another version of SpaceEngine, then it is very likely that it no longer exists. The seed for the random generator changes with ea...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

13974 Since Space Engine is a education software, it would be nice if you could pass the marker on a piece of info a describe what is. That might be a lot of work. Also for translators. It would probably be easier if you could call Google or Wikipedia by right-clicking on a term in the info window.

Unrealistic stars.

R136a1 is a very massive star, but has a comparatively small diameter. According to Wikipedia 315 solar masses and 28.8 - 35.4 solar diameters. (About 0.3 au) This seems to be the rule in real life. Stars with very high mass, but comparatively low diameter, and stars with lesser mass, but very larg...

Qr Bbpost That is what I am doing, I was unable to update his mods properly.

The question is, however, whether it is still worth updating these things before version 0.990 is released.

Tabby's Star - KIC 8462852 This is my version of Tabby's Star . I made it a double star. Nearby is a red dwarf who perhaps belongs to the system. I have also added a planet. Where the people live who build the megastructure. The Megastructure , which I published in the old forum , is missing. I wil...

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

Perhaps it is easier to develop a technique that allows us to bypass the speed of light (warp, wormhole, hyperspace), as a technique that allows us to fly at approximately the speed of light.

The seemingly empty universe is not empty at light speed.

Cannot move orbit of planets with editor

13874 So I try to move the orbit of Saturn in our solar system with the planet editor... but it doesn't work... Are you using SE 0.980e? Then this is because SpaceEngine does not use the ' Orbit ' data for these objects, but the ephemerides from the ' DE436.pak ' file. If you extract the file ' Sol...
