General 0.9.9.0 Discussion

Probably some stream will be done right before the release, which is not decided yet. As far as I know, Skylias on Twitch has done several live streams talking about astronomy, among other things, by using also recent beta test builds of SpaceEngine. She's not showing specifically new features, tho...

19880 vegetation will evolve to absorb as much sunlight as possible Not necessarily true, otherwise we wouldn't have green plants on Earth. The Sun radiates most strongly in the green part of the spectrum, so reflecting more green light than anything else wouldn't make any sense, yet that's what ha...

Do Carbonia, Ferria and Aquaria planets look any different from Terra planets? There might be subtle differences in planets with varying chemical compositions but the biggest factor in the appearance of a planet, more specifically its coloration, is the type of light its host star is emitting. This...

Gameplay concept

If I will ever introduce alien civilization, they will not resemble that you expect to see from popular shows or games. This might be an intelligent community of bacteria, or quantum supercomputer distributed inside the icy crust of a cold planetoid, or mushroom forests with self-organizing pattern...

Gameplay concept

One idea could be custom intelligent life or intelligent life that you run across that you could take control of and pilot. You wouldn't actually see any of the life on the ground level, though perhaps you could see how from the atmosphere changes to the planet as the race changes and grows, perhaps...

Is there any way to emulate the native oculus SDK through Vive? Revive allows emulation of the consumer oculus firmware through Vive but I've yet to get Revive to work with Space Engine.

Okay, this has to happen.

This sucked me in harder than bowling ball falling into the supermassive blackhole in ICG 1101. As I'm typing this I just broke the 3 septillion mark

Dreams you've had

I have dreams I can see distant galaxies with my unaided eyes if I squint hard enough, and when they come into focus I can feel, in totalis, how truely and utterly far away they are. It's one of the deepest and overwhelming type of dreams that I have. It's great when the feeling of the dream stays ...

Work progress - 0.9.9.0

I love the idea of in-house texture editing. Planet editing may be flexible enough that I can finally fulfill my dream of creating a Gray Homeworld temperate terra around Zet-2 Reticuli then visiting it in VR, maybe I'll even get some city lights on the night side =O

Intergalactic stars!

Rogue Stars are an excellent idea. I actually assumed when I discovered planemos (rogue planets) that rogue stars most likely also exist in the program. It wasn't until later when I tried using the system browser in multiple areas of intergalactic space did I realize that wasn't the case.

*It is supposed to say "long dreamed of", it must have auto "corrected" and made my post sound contradicting. Both terms are adequate. If there are wonders out in cosmos to be dreamt of, than there must also be horrors to be dreaded. Let us hope that when true first contact happ...

When I was a child I would, in my dejection, not dare dream of ever seeing the stars up close, now thanks to you Romanyuk, I can without even having to leave my room. I can never thank you enough for Space Engine.

Continuing work on planet atmosphere and hydrosphere chemistry: http://spaceengine.org/news/blog170926/ Haven't been this excited since pre-No Man's Sky, though in this case I can be sure it will actually live up to personal hype. I can't wait to find some of these exotic terras with life and stran...
