History of SpaceEngine

This is the first CGI rendering of a complex landscape (with 3D clouds, islands and water). It was done in 1981. I saw it today and it reminded me of SE. In some sense this is the beginning of it all.
This is very impressive for the time period it came from.

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

@Stellarator Well written and good points there! Not to mention that future civilizations may will have radically different thinking, than us. While curiosity is not just a human trait, possible intelligent future races may will have ideologies that will not support archaeological research, or will ...

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

Judging by the fact that 99% of all species that ever existed on Earth are all extinct, the chances that we will have time to establish a "Star Trek" like space faring civilization is very small. Our dependence on fossil fuel technologies, the upcoming peak oil crisis in the next few decad...

Help with creating Mods and Addons

Thank you, this seems to be working well.

But I assume, if anyone has a modded Solar System with this file at the same place, his/her setup will be overwritten.
I will write a notice about this in my Read Me.

Help with creating Mods and Addons

I'm trying to make a script in 9.8.0E, where the camera goes to Jupiter's moon, Europa. But when I issue the 'goto Europa' or 'gotofast Europa' commands, the camera goes to the asteroid '52 Europa' instead. Is there a way to specify the command like goto <parent><object> or are there some other poss...

The Future of Humanity & Intelligent life in the universe

@Stellarator This was an interesting video! In our day-to-day lives and with the false sense of security that comes from our technology, we usually forget (or some not even acknowledge) how fragile our economy is. Basically we are doing the same thing since thousands of years: the majority of our fo...

A very PC discussion

My specs: CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz GPU: GigaByte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3 1600 MHz It is somewhere between a potato and a nuclear reactor. I do not aim to upgrade anything at the moment, because I would have to throw out everything - except fo...

Hi All, Although I'm new here, I use SE since years, what shows that I am quite fond of it and is my favorite astronomy software to date (though I used Celestia and Stellarium since their early days for quite some time). As for my knowledge, I barely qualify as an amateur astronomer (though I do own...

General questions about SpaceEngine

@HarbingerDawn Thank you for the fast response, I appreciate it! I'm well over 5 hours of content (more than 30000 lines of code) at the moment. That's why I thought this would be a worthy addition for SE and a good gift to the community (and not just for my personal use). Though it will take some w...

General questions about SpaceEngine

Hi All, I'm in the process of creating documentary film-style scenarios for SE 0.9.8.0E (mostly for my own usage at the time being), that includes information and many texts from Wikipedia. My read me file states the following: "All text and information in the scenarios were collected from Wiki...
